Kusamono is the Japanese art of creating miniature plant arrangements in small vessels. A small form creates a fragment of nature—a combination of plants, vessels, and accessories that together create a harmonious whole.
During the kusamono workshops, you will learn the principles of composing such compositions and how to care for plants so that they maintain their shape and condition for a long time.
These classes are for people who enjoy working with plants, value peace and want to spend time surrounded by nature.
You will prepare your own kusamono composition – one larger one or several smaller ones, depending on the plants and vessels you choose.
First, I'll discuss the history and significance of kusamono in Japanese tradition. Then, step by step, you'll build your own arrangement, selecting plants, a container, a substrate, and natural accessories.
I will show you how to achieve balance in your composition and how to maintain it after the workshop.
There will also be time for coffee, something sweet, and a conversation about plants.
