Kusamono with sedum clavatum in a small concrete vessel.
I did the work over a year ago, so I am sure that the plant is well rooted and growing stably.
Sedum clavatum forms compact rosettes on short, gradually elongating shoots. I carefully select the location and amount of light to ensure the plant grows more slowly and maintains its planned proportions. This allows the kusamono's form to gradually change and remain distinct over time.
I crafted the vessel from architectural concrete, based on a clay model. Its simple form provides a neutral backdrop for the plant and highlights its structure. I finished the surface with light-colored Soca stones, which structure the entire piece and introduce a subtle contrast of materials.

KUSAMONO CARE
It is best to place Kusamono in a bright place, with access to diffused light or gentle sunlight.
Watering should be adjusted to the room's conditions – the soil should dry out visibly between waterings. Watering every 10-14 days, using a small amount, works best.
The soil mix I used is nutritious and well-drained, so fertilization isn't necessary for a long time. The first fertilization can be introduced after about a year, observing the plant's response.
As the shoots grow, the kusamono's form will change. If the plant begins to significantly outgrow the container, please contact me – I can suggest adjustments to the composition or repotting if necessary.
DIMENSIONS
- vessel diameter: 9 cm
- total height: 11 cm
- composition width: 14cm
